SIAE RESPONSE
With reference to the above, we would like to inform you that the music programmes of the events reported were not included in the analytical distribution operations based on the provisions of the Distribution Ordinance, as these were private events. It should be noted, in any case, that music programmes relating to private entertainment (wherever organised: in public venues, private homes or open spaces, offered by private individuals to guests at weddings, ceremonies or celebrations in general, conferences, gatherings, company meetings, etc.; by private clubs with access restricted to members and, where applicable, family members; by managers of public venues to guests at venue openings, season openings, etc.) are not included in the analytical distribution, according to the criteria set out in the current Distribution Ordinance.
N.B.
- No signature from the SIAE operator
- I was not given any opportunity to respond to the reply by means of technical denial (do not reply to this email).
- It follows that the SIAE's response would appear to be concise and definitive.
- Consequently, I had to open a new message, in which I referred to the previous communication and their reply.
MY FINAL REPLY
This is in reference to your response to ticket no. TT576599.
I acknowledge your cold bureaucratic statement, the text of which is visible at the bottom of this document.
The current distribution order and its distinction between analytical and non-analytical distribution, as mentioned by you, is a legal way to perpetrate theft against small, poor authors in favour of larger, richer ones, especially in a case such as this, which has allowed the latter to ’pocket“ a few thousand euros with impunity.
Equally petty and ruthless is giving curt, irrefutable answers, sending them in a cowardly manner, without the name and signature of any SIAE representative, and also denying the possibility of replying or establishing a dialogue, hiding behind a “no-reply” email address.
This is truly autocratic behaviour disguised as democracy by means of an elected body that is, in fact, self-referential and biased.
I believe that what has been decided and implemented is a shameful decline for an authors' society that was made great by its founding fathers, to which I have belonged for 40 years and which I once held in high esteem.
Do not be surprised if authors flee in ever-increasing numbers, as I myself will do.
Go ahead and form your own Elite Society made up of oligarchs and aristocrats of copyright, not unlike the caste of MPs who decide for themselves the amount of their salaries and allowances.
Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to say how inappropriate it is, especially in these times, to ask for a fixed membership fee that is the same for everyone, rather than making it proportional to SIAE dividends.
I would be grateful if you could also forward this comment to President Mogol, whom I met during activities carried out at the CET in Toscolano, so that he, who preached morality and integrity, may reflect on the immorality of these unfair rules.
I will fight to spread the truth about these scandalous rules, which mark the beginning of the end for this once-glorious company, starting by sharing the contents of this email and your reply.
